Job Description
A Receptionist is responsible for performing clerical tasks within an office setting to support daily operations, serving as the first point of contact for visitors and clients. Key duties and responsibilities include greeting and welcoming guests, directing visitors to the appropriate person or office, answering and screening phone calls, taking messages, scheduling appointments, and distributing mail and packages. They also maintain the reception area, ensuring it is tidy and well-stocked with necessary supplies, and may assist with ordering office supplies and managing inventory.
Receptionists must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be proficient in using digital calendars and office equipment such as copiers, printers, and fax machines, and be able to multitask and manage their time effectively. They should also be able to handle emergencies in a timely and effective manner, and provide basic and accurate information in-person and via phone or email. Additionally, they may assist with security by monitoring visitor access and maintaining a logbook.
Experience as a receptionist is helpful but not always required, and candidates should have a friendly demeanor, strong organizational skills, and an eagerness to assist customers. They typically need a high school diploma or equivalent, and most training for receptionist positions occurs on the job. Receptionists often advance into administrative assistant roles.

Physical requirements for the job include the ability to bend, stoop, reach, stand, move around the building, sit and use a computer for extended periods, and lift and carry documents weighing up to 25 pounds.
